Contemporary Praise Team

Each week, the Praise Team leads the 10:30 A. M. contemporary service . They play contemporary worship songs using guitars, drums and vocalist. The team rehearses on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Contact Scot Davis at or email sdavis@sagetechvideo.com for more information.

Kimberly Carpenter's Bio Kimberly has been a resident of LaPlata County for thirteen years. She lives in Bayfield with husband Chad and eleven year old son Quentin. Born in Garden Grove, California, Kimberly made her singing debut in church at the age of five. After many great adventures, and wonderful friendships, she found herself in Durango, where she met Chad. Quentin came along soon after, and their family settled in Bayfield. Singing and Dancing have continued to be source of joy and a way to the spirit for Kim. It is with gratitude that she calls Florida Mesa Presbyterian Church her spiritual home and family. Musicians: Geary Parsons, Don Roberts, and Lillian Davis
Geary Parsons' Music Bio Geary traded a pocket watch for his first guitar at the age of 8. Being self taught, he began to play Rock & Roll and Country music in various bands in the mid Sixties. At the age of 14, Geary was in a foster home where his foster mother offered to buy him a new guitar if he played in the kids praise band at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Canton, Ohio where he was member. Geary traveled all over Ohio and western Pennsylvania playing with a 30 person choir from Martin Luther Lutheran Church and he was the only guitarist. At the age 17 Geary joined the U.S. Army and after basic training was stationed in Lawton Oklahoma here he played music at the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Geary got out of the military in 1975 at Fort Carson Colorado loving the mountains as much as he did he stayed in Colorado. Geary moved to Grand Junction where he formed a country band and began to travel once again, Playing the Western slope of Colorado and even up into Canada. Geary then met his loving wife Jan (Hiner) Parsons. So, he realized he had to settle down. They have two boys JJ and Denny who have families of their own. Jan's family have been members of Florida Mesa Presbyterian Church for 50 years or more. Geary and Jan where married in the Florida Mesa Presbyterian Church in Sept. 1979. So, Geary has attended service off and on over the past 30 years at Florida Mesa Presbyterian Church until the day the Lord had Scott Davis call Geary about playing in the praise team. Geary taught music theory for guitar, bass, violin, and banjo for 5 years at Bandwagon Music from 1992 thru 1997. He also played in several Country & Rock bands in the area over the past 30 years.
